There is that kind of question in the interview with Steffen and Thomas there. Steffen said that the main reason was that Markus wanted to make more commercial music (in accordance with WEA conditions I think) but Steffen wanted to make his own music that doesn't depend on record label commercial orientations. As result, we have 3 great albums without WEA. Thread: The best studio album!?! These ones are very different, but they sound like "really my music". The others, of course, sound good, but... "Devolution" is quite boring (to me only of course), the first albums today sound not very interesting to me. Yes, there are a lot of brilliant songs at the first albums too, but I can listen to the entire content from the albums that are decribed above only.
