Exclusive interview with Thomas of DE/VISION for the 'FOREIGNER' web-site: www.de-vision.hu

Foreigner: It's been almost 2 years since your last LP - 'Six Feet Underground' -looking back; how would you rate it compared to other D/V records? According to some fans, it's your best record to date - even surpassing 'Monosex'.(Although, I personally think that it's unfair to compare anything to the past, for it was a different time & era, even with a different band member.)

Thomas: 6 FEET UNDERGROUND is also one of my favourite D/V albums ever, to me it’s also much better than MONOSEX, that’s true (although MONOSEX was much more successful), but I wouldn’t say it is the best one…I guess I like DEVOLUTION as much as 6FU…but like everything else in the world it’s just a matter of taste…but I agree with you that it’s not fair to compare 6FU to MONOSEX for example…it’s a fact that the quality of the production has increased a lot over the years and I guess that’s the main problem I feel about the older D/V albums/songs…since VOID the sound has become much more brilliant and perfect…

Foreigner: D/V is about halfway finished with their new LP - to be released in early 2006. Can you hint us with some "inside" info? What direction D/V is heading, the sound / mood of it, etc. (Besides that it's somewhere between 'Monosex' & 'Void' Tongue )

Thomas: Well, it’s true, when you’ve sent your questions the new album was halfway finished, but now it is finished Big Grin (I don’t remember whether we worked so fast or it simply took such a long time to answer these few questions…)
I guess we’re heading for the same direction as we always do, after all, we’re still D/V…the sound and the mood of the songs hasn’t really changed remarkably…the songs are mainly based on electronic sounds, we used one or two guitar sounds, that’s it…you will find typical D/V ballads as well as up tempo songs and, of course, beautiful, catchy melodies and lyrics.
I guess this one will be even better than MONOSEX and 6FU put together…

Foreigner: Will Drakkar be releasing the new record as well? Are there still no plans to release singles in Europe or is D/V quite happy with the American (Different Drum) record company releasing some singles & those being distributed in Europe by POPONAUT ( www.poponaut.de ) via the internet?

Thomas: Yes, DRAKKAR will be releasing the new album as well…I can’t say whether a single will be released or not…it depends on DRAKKAR, they haven’t heard the album yet, they’ll get it next week, it’s up to them to decide…we, the band, would like to release a single but we have to wait and see what DRAKKAR says…
Whatever A DIFFERENT DRUM is doing in the U.S., it doesn’t really help us here in Germany or Europe, it might be good for some European fans to get hold of new remixes and stuff but it doesn’t increase our popularity here in Germany, so it doesn’t really matter whether they release singles or not…

Foreigner: Will D/V's collaboration with Marc van Linden - 'The Real Thing' ever be released on CD or just on vinyl? Are there plans to do another remix with Telekommander?

Thomas: Since it has not been released on CD so far, I don’t think that it will ever be released on CD…
At the very moment we have no plans to do another remix with Telekommander…

Foreigner: Can both of you tell us what music have you been listening to recently?

Thomas: I know that Steffen likes the last album of the QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE very much and he even went to their concert…
I haven’t been listening to anything special during the last few months…

Foreigner: On your DVD 'Unplugged And The Motion Pictures' Steffen mentioned it, that everyone was happy with all the songs on 'Monosex' - expect for one. Which one? (I have a tip, but it would be interesting to hear it from you guys.)

Thomas: Steffen was talking about himself when he mentioned that…he never liked HEAR ME CALLING very much, to be honest, he hates that song…but it has nothing to do with the fact that it was written by Markus…
